Hydrogeological Survey

We would recommend that prior to drilling a Borehole a hydrogeological survey is undertaken to establish the potential Quantity and to give an indication of the anticipated Quality of water.

Hydrogeological Assessment

We work with require a hydrogeological assessment in order to provide drilling costs.

The hydrogeological assessment typically comprises of (but is not limited to) the following tasks:

  • Determine the requirements of the customer, location, yield and use;
  • Geological assessment, general geology, lithology and structure
  • Hydrogeology, implications of the geology in terms of water bearing horizons, anticipated yield, hydraulic properties of each aquifer, groundwater flow direction, pathways and rates of flow.
  • Boreholes and abstractions in the catchment and region, including borehole logs and aquifer parameters (where known)
  • Data collection and collation
  • Groundwater quality assessment
  • Catchment assessment, an understanding of the anticipated groundwater catchment
  • Catchment risk assessment, and risks to yield and quality, including the potential for planned activities to result in groundwater contamination and known or expected presence, distribution, concentration and risk from existing contamination.

Borehole Drilling

We offer varied different types of drilling for Domestic, Agricultural, Industrial and commercial, Farming purpose. Drilling diameter from “4” to “12” tube well with up to 300 meter depth depending on the soil and location.

Once the water requirements are known and an assessment, either by a hydrogeologist, water diviner or an examination of geological maps, has been undertaken the borehole can be drilled according to the information found. Typically, a borehole used as water well is completed by installing a vertical pipe (casing) and well screen to keep the borehole from caving in.

Boreholes can vary in depth and design depending upon the level of the water table, the quantity of water stored in the ground and the requirements of the customer; typically they are between 40-200 vertical metres.

Borehole Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation involves restoring a well or a borehole no longer in use or with too low a flow rate back to its initial state and sometimes improving it by using miscellaneous reconstruction treatments or methods.
This involves digging out the bottom of the well to prevent a groundwater recession following a drop in the level of the water table. – The ideal solution is that the bottom of the well remains below the level of the water table during the driest period in the year.
